Who we are

Sofira Maritime Innovation is an independent advisory company founded on more than 15 years of experience in new maritime technologies and energy transition.

The company builds on project leadership experience within public authorities, local government, and maritime industry clusters, combined with leadership roles in hydrogen and maritime technology companies. The background includes hydrogen production and PEM fuel cell technology, hydrogen and hydrogen-based energy carriers, autonomous vessels and supporting infrastructure, and complex industry-driven innovation initiatives.

Sofira was established to contribute clarity, trust, and structured progress within demanding regulatory and technological environments. We work at the intersection of regulation, emerging technologies, and practical implementation, acting as a bridge between innovation environments and operational reality.

Based in Haugesund on the west coast of Norway, Sofira operates nationally and internationally.

How we work

Maritime transition introduces technological, regulatory, and operational complexity. New energy carriers, evolving safety frameworks, and emerging autonomous solutions require structured coordination across disciplines and stakeholders.

Sofira approaches this complexity with a systems perspective. We focus on aligning regulatory understanding, technological maturity, and practical implementation pathways. The objective is not rapid change at any cost, but well-structured progress that is technically sound and operationally viable.

We contribute independent assessment, cross-sector insight, and project structure in environments where decisions carry long-term consequences. By bridging regulatory frameworks, innovation environments, and operational realities, we support responsible and forward-looking transition processes.
